Heather was born and raised in a small Massachusetts town. She acquired her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where she studied graphic design, art education, illustration, sculpture, drawing, painting, and printmaking. In 2010 she participated in a study abroad program where she lived briefly in Nocciano, Italy, where she studied painting, photography, and Italian language and culture. In 2012 she moved across the country, to become a resident of the incredible Inland Northwest.
Currently living in the beautiful Coeur d’Alene area, Heather is a Graphic Design instructor at North Idaho College, and she teaches painting classes at Pinot’s Palette. In addition to her creative passions, she is also a lover of the outdoors, spending as much time as possible hiking, skiing, cycling, and adventuring when she is not making a mess of her studio.
While painting landscapes she intends to embody the energy that she receives from the nature that surrounds, with expressive colors and gestures. When painting still-lives, she aims to instill feelings that surface when you are within a space, a space that is lived in, where memories were shared, or feelings that surface when observing an object of meaning. She is always looking for new artful experiments.
